BACH+ Festival
BACH+ was an 11-day festival held in honor of the 340th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's birth. The idea behind the festival was to take a look at J.S. Bach's work through a prism of contemporary art and modern approaches to classical music.

Problem
The festival's goal was to put J.S. Bach's life and art into a modern context and remove barriers that might separate younger or more casual audiences from his work. To reach these audiences, the festival's branding had to strike an approachable, friendly tone that would appeal to people who perceive classical music as something too complex and inaccessible to even attempt to understand.
Another consideration in the design approach was the nature of the project from an organizational standpoint — BACH+ came together on a tight timeline, yet within those constraints, the festival's concept, event lineup, and marketing strategy remained dynamic and ever-expanding as time went on. The visual identity had to be flexible enough to keep pace with the evolving nature of the project.
Solution
The core of the identity directly answers the festival's premise — Bach's silhouette passing through a colorful plane, signifying the exploration of his work through different lenses.
Color serves as the key differentiator among the various events, with each one assigned a single, saturated hue that runs through the plane in the artwork and the plus symbol in the logotype. This color-coding elegantly solved the project's structural constraints while still allowing for a bold, cohesive visual identity.
Applied across various formats, the system stays legible and unified, while remaining distinct and sharp at the individual event level.
Outcome
As the event lineup and marketing strategy continued to evolve throughout production, the identity was able to expand and adapt alongside them, giving the team the room they needed to promote each event effectively without feeling constrained or slowed down by design demands.
During its run, the festival saw superb attendance numbers. For a significant share of the audience, the festival marked their first-time visit to one of the team's events, suggesting that the identity had succeeded in breaking through to a wider audience and expanding the team's original base.
